George H. Ketchum
George H. Ketchum, 85 year old Eufaula resident, died Thursday, December 23, 2010 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born on Saturday, September 19, 1925 in Indianola, Oklahoma to James and Alice Jean Bell Ketchum. George grew up in Hanna, Oklahoma where he received his education, graduating from Eufaula High School. After graduation, he entered the United States Navy on Monday, January 3, 1944 and serve faithfully during WWII until he received an Honorable Discharge on Sunday, January 27, 1946. George moved back to Checotah where he met, fell in love and later married Fay Hart on Friday, October 7, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. They made their home in Kansas City where he became an automotive mechanic for a brief time before moving to Muskogee where he continued working as a mechanic. They moved to California where he worked for Digorgia Farms where he swamped potatoes. He went to work drilling water wells, and later began working on a production rig. He began a career with Shell Oil Company as a computer technician, retiring after 25 years of service. They moved back to Oklahoma, settling in Eufaula, where he was a member of the Texanna Assembly Of God Church. George loved to fish, especially fishing for salmon, working on small engines and camping. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice Ketchum, one son, Rickey Ketchum, a grandson, Shane Boyt; one sister, Aylean Richardson, and one brother, Sidney Ketchum. George is lovingly survived by his wife of 61 years, Fay of the home; four children, Perry G. Ketchum, of the home, Twyla Jean Boyt and her husband Gary, of Mena, AR, Mickey D. Ketchum, of Gilroy, CA., and Kristie Lea Lowry and her husband Kilien, of Bethany, OK; ten grandchildren, Autumn Ketchum, Jonathan Ketchum, Joy Foster and her husband Nick, Tiffany Lopez and her husband Robert, Katelyn Lowry, Kasidi Lowry, Cindy Ketchum, Wyndy Hutson, Jeffery Ketchum, and Tim Ketchum; six great-grandchildren, Alexis James, Aden James, Madison Huston, Chelsea Ketchum, Catalina Lopez, and Haley Ketchum. He also survived by one sister Lela Pierce, of San Clemente, CA, numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends. Viewing for George will be held 1 pm to 5 pm Sunday, December 26, 2010 and 9 am to 8 pm Monday, December 27, 2010 at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Funeral services for George will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Allen, Reverend Lloyd Winkle, Reverend Charles Capps, and Reverend John Bright, ministering. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Ron Oliver, Bill Angell, Ed Johnson, Gene Hensley, Leon Carter, & Randall Dunegan are serving as Casket Bearers. Cliff Sinyard, Louie Gibson, & Lonnie Haggard will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.
