Jonathan "Jon" Searles
Jonathan Kent “Jon” Searles, 35 year old lifetime Checotah resident died Saturday, November 27, 2010. He was born on Saturday, January 25, 1975 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Gary and Debra Rose Adams Searles. Jon attended school in Checotah where he was very active in the FFA program, and was a star baseball player for the Checotah Wildcats, graduating in 1993. After graduation he began building cell phone towers. Jon was an accomplished welder, and mechanic. He worked alongside his father-in-law as a natural gas compression mechanic. On Saturday, September 28, 2002 he married the love of his life, Deana Bates Jones in Ft. Smith Arkansas. Jon had many hobbies, farming and ranching, fishing, hunting, and he served as a volunteer fireman for Paradise Point Fire Dept. But his greatest love was for his family. Jon was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Checotah Masonic Lodge # 86 and attended the First Assembly of God Church. Jon was preceded in death by his mother, Debra Rose Henry; dad Gary Searles; brother Gary Kent Searles, Jr.; grandparents, C.A. Adams, & Bill & Lorene Ferguson. He is lovingly survived by his wife Deana, of the home; daughter, Kaitlyn Rose Searles of the home, son, talon Arlis Searles of Odessa, MO; Father, Rick Ferguson and his wife Janet of Kansas, OK; brothers, Anthony Ferguson, Jeremy Ferguson; grandmother, Arlene Adams; 3 uncles, Robert Adams and his wife Angie, Phil Adams and his wife Barbara, Floyd Adams and his wife Karen; one aunt Tabitha Kelly and her husband Kyle; one step-brother, Brian Searles and his wife Lou Anna; and his step-father Jim Henry. Also surviving are many cousins, other extended family and a host of friends. Viewing for Jon will be 9am-8pm Tuesday, November 30, 2010 with his family greeting friends from 5-7pm at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2pm Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Montgomery, pastor of First Free Will Baptist Church, officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with Mike Creekbaum, Gary Creekbaum, Joe Creekbaum, Dale Kilhoffer, Ted Grzymala, Danny Jurkiewicz serving as Casket Bearers.
